Poetry & Fiction
I enjoy scribbling poetry and fiction.
My poems will feature in the next issues of Brand and The Delinquent; my poetry has previously appeared in ReadThis ezine (although they haven’t updated their archives yet, grr) as well as on my previous blog. Who knows, maybe I’ll sprinkle a few around this new blog.
If you want the boring info about awards and stuff that I’ve won, read below…
During my not-so-long writingtime, I’ve been given several accolades. I’ve been commended as a Foyle Young Poet of The Year (2006) and more recently I was a runner-up in the Ilkley Literature Festival’s poetry competition. I also got a trip to London and shown round the BBC studios way back in year 8 due to a form I filled in on the importance of writing, and some poems I sent off. The competition was called ‘Making Waves’, run by BBC Blast. I love BBC Blast to this day.
General fiction & not so boring info:
I’ve also taken part in a three week Creative Writing summer course at The University of Warwick which was excellent (in all seriousness, it was.) What else? … I’m working on a novel. I’ve been churning it over and roasting the ideas in my mind for a while. Time to spit them out onto the screen, I think.
I write short stories too, but I’ve kept them in my mits so far. Under wraps. Maybe one day I’ll send them out in the big wild world.
Literary Fiction/ Nattering about what I like to read:
also interests me. There’s a snippet of a review I did on Moniza Alvi’s ‘Europa’ in the latest issue of emag, which you can find here.
I plan to write reviews. Need somewhere to put them though. Unless my blog readers want reviews to pick from too?
